From the authors
“I’m a young theatre and radio director who, during Playground, together with my inseparable collaborator, dramaturg and author Sofija Dimitrijević, dared to tell a story we believe is urgent and burning, here and now. The residency proved immeasurably precious and, without exaggeration, life-changing: it allowed us to test our play beyond its original context, to hear it in another language, to encounter new Actors and audiences, and to discover what truly works. I returned to Belgrade encouraged and newly confident, inspired by the London team’s discipline, openness, and generosity, and deeply grateful to everyone involved. Thank you for believing in young artists, for connecting us, challenging us, and becoming the wind at our backs. I hope this is only the beginning of a mission I wholeheartedly support.”
– Tara Mitrović
“This residency gave me an ideal framework to finalise my play, Road Trip. As a freelancer, it isn’t easy to find focused time and space away from daily distractions, and this experience offered exactly that. Programs like Playground are vital to the playwriting ecosystem. Playwrights need labs where work can breathe before meeting an audience, and Playground provides the rare infrastructure to help transform strong ideas into production-ready plays.
The cross-cultural dimension was equally invaluable. Testing the work and its translation, and exchanging methodologies with international peers, gave me a perspective I couldn’t have gained in Bucharest alone. It bridges local scenes with the global stage and builds a network that I believe will support my work going forward.”
