2° R&D WORKSHOP – ROAD TRIP by Andreea Tănase

From 12 to 16 November, director Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli and lacasadargilla will develop Road Trip, a play by Romanian playwright Andreea Tănase. Translated into Italian by Roberto Merlo, Road Trip tells the story of three friends reuniting for an adventurous journey—a race against time sparked by an unexpected event.

Throughout the week, Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli, together with Francesco Villano, Anna Mallamaci, Giulia Luna Mazzarino, and Petra Valentini, will collaborate with Andreea Tănase and Roberto Merlo to explore the text’s potential and consider new dimensions.

The last day of the workshop, November 16^th 2024, will be dedicated to a public opening, inviting directors, artists and professionals to attend the readings of the texts and take part in a session of Q&A shared with all the people involved in the process.

“My experience in Rome was wonderful, and as a very good friend put it, it was like “a spa for playwrights”. It’s a rare context for a playwright to have all the attention of other amazing theatre professionals on their text. It’s incredible to have a great hive mind that works for the story and many valuable different perspectives.
My text was pretty much developed up to a point where I got stuck, so my personal bet was to see how it works as a story and to gather some ideas about what to do next. I got to do both of these things during the workshop, and I left with many notes and lots to think about.
We talked about female solidarity and friendship, death, mourning, depression, what it means to get older, adolescence and the lost youth, and many more.
What’s next? I’m looking forward to finding some peaceful time to finish the story. And then, maybe turn it into an audio production and after that, a movie script.”
