Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe

FABULAMUNDI . Playwriting Europe

Texts and European playwrights around the theme ‘The dangerous opportunity’

FABULAMUNDI. Playwriting Europe is a project on contemporary dramaturgy, translators, playwrights and their works. Its aim is to create a common ground for European theatre through a dialogue on national contemporary dramaturgical forms, their similarities and differences. Translating and sharing the plays is the first step towards mutual understanding and knowledge.

The II edition of FABULAMUNDI. Playwriting Europe involves writers and theaters of five countries – France, Germany, Italy, Romania and Spain – around the theme The dangerous opportunity.

The age we live in has made clearer and stronger the need for cooperation, exchange, mutual knowledge, sharing, responsibility and common purposes: this is the reason why this crisis is for us an opportunity, a dangerous one.
We were inspired from John F. Kennedy’s statement “When written in Chinese, the word crisis is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity”, that meets our idea of the crisis as something that can destroy but also create.

FABULAMUNDI is among the winning projects of the Culture Programme 2007-2013.
